Honey Baked Apples

This snack can also be made with any type of apple or even with pears.  Foods have more fiber when the skin is not peeled off.  Fiber is important in the diverticulosis diet.


Ingredients

  • 4
    apples, unpeeled
  • 1/4 Cup
    brown sugar
  • 1/2 Teaspoon
    ground cloves
  • 1/2 Teaspoon
    cinnamon
  • 1/2 Cup
    honey
  • 1/2 Cup
    water

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

  2. Core and slice apples into 1/2" rings. Place them in a shallow baking dish for later use.

  3. In a small saucepan, combine and heat brown sugar, cloves, cinnamon, honey and water.

  4. Pour over apples and bake 15 minutes or until tender, turning to baste once or twice. Serve.
